This weekend I downloaded and updated my BIOS to v1001 on my ASUS P5E3 Deluxe motherboard. This has allowed me to overclock to 3.33Ghz and remain stable, I think this is probably down to improved voltage stabilisation. The ‘voltage dampner’ option is now replaced by ‘load line calibration’ and it seems like it’s more than just a change of terminology. With this new BIOS I don’t see any Vdroop at all when the CPU is put under 100% load using Orthos stress test.
There are quite a few other changes in the BIOS that I’ve noticed but these all apear to be fairly cosmetic.
