Choose a protected space
A watch loose in a wash bag can meet zips, keys and bottles throughout the journey. Use a suitable pouch or case that separates it from hard objects and supports it without forcing the strap into a sharp bend. Check the inside for exposed fasteners or rough seams before packing.
Close the case with the watch inside and inspect the fit. The lid should not press against the crystal or crown, and the watch should not rattle freely when the container is moved gently. A large container with little support can be less useful than a smaller one that fits correctly.
Pack the bag around it
Put the watch case where heavier items will not crush it. Keep liquids separately contained rather than relying on the watch case to resist a spill. Do not leave the packed watch in a place likely to become very hot, such as a parked vehicle in sunlight.
Take only the accessories needed for the trip. Loose straps and hardware should be contained separately, and a tool carried just in case can scratch the watch if left in the same compartment. If a strap change is required, arranging it before departure is usually less awkward than attempting it on an unfamiliar surface.
Plan a place at the destination
On arrival, choose a dry, stable location away from a sink, open window or crowded bedside edge. An empty section of the travel case can serve as a consistent resting place. Check the area before leaving so that the watch is not hidden among charging leads or bedding.
If the strap becomes damp during wear, follow its care instructions before closing it away. Keep any model-specific documents you need accessible digitally or as a short note, without carrying unnecessary personal information. A simple packing routine is easier to repeat than a complicated arrangement that depends on a particular suitcase.
